Wood Pellets Production

Biomass Pellet Maker

Biomass pellet makers are widely utilized around the world. People are utilizing biomass pellet makers to produce biomass pellets for home use everyday.

Biomass of forest and agricultural origin

Biomass processed to a form of fuel pellets, is an obligatory fuel additive used by industrial power engineering.

About properties of pellets you can read in multiple Internet web sites, so we do not duplicate them here.

Now, straw pellets are definitely the most part of fuel from Renewable Sources of Energy, used so far by power industry. It is worth noting that pellets will have more and more participation in carbon combustion because Poland is required to enlarge the amount of burned biomass.

 Agricultural biomass

  • Straw - the most popular agricultural biomass in a form of rolled or square pressed bales; a good raw material for pelleting and easy to transport.
  • Hey - this raw material does occur in large amount and is quite difficult to be pelleted; used mainly as an additive for cattle feed.
  • Rape oil cake - owing to the oil content, it is easy to be pelleted; however, because of a high price, it is not used as a basic raw material; usually used as an additive to make pelleting easer to conduct.
  • Peat - perfect caloric value and easy to be pelleted; in Poland, the exploitation of peat deposits is forbidden; in the Ukraine, there are huge amounts of peat deposits; it contains a lot of grit impurities.
  • Osier willow - quite good raw material, popular in Scandinavia; its cultivation makes the soil impoverished, so its popularity is not large.
  • Sunflower husks, grape-stones - good raw material, the popularity of which still grows, inaccessible in Poland in amounts able to be processed.
  • Dried fruit and vegetables - easy to be pelleted; highly effective and economical while processing; Investors' interest is still growing.
  •

Wood origin biomass

  • usually trunks up to 150 cm long and of diameter at least 100 mm; in order to process, it is essential to have a wood chipper with a feeding table; a storage area and power supply is required; pulpwood has to be debarked previously to prevent from bark and grit impurities; otherwise the expenses for wearing materials will be considerably higher.
  • Chips - scarcely found in Poland as the basic raw material; they require an additional chipping appliance, which makes the investment costs higher; adequately sorted, they are a good additive to the main raw material; they may contain much bark and grit impurities.
  • Sawdust - the best raw material, particularly if it comes from joineries and is dry; the lowest costs of building a pelleting plant if the sawdust has stable and homogeneous composition.
  • Dust - a basic component in some pelleting plants, even though it is inadvisable; usually allowable in an amount up to 10% as a supplement; the content of grit > 2% excludes its application.
