Wood Pellets Production

Pelletizer Machine

Pelletizer machine can be also described as wood pelletizer or wood pellet mill. Unlike grinding mills to break large pieces of materials into smaller pieces, the pelletizer machine is actually used to create pellets from powdered material or much smaller materials into a larger pellets form. Wood pelletizer is specially designed to process wood pellets and other biomass pellets. As we all known, pelletizer machines was first made to produce feed pellets for animals, then later pelletizers start to make wood pellets as a new type of burning fuel, of course, must have been changed in the main part of the machine. These wood pellets are not only cheaper than oil fuel but also CO2 neutral, wood comes from trees and the CO2 when burning ends to be absorbed by trees.

On today’s market, there are two main types of pelletizers for sale. They are small-scale pelletizer machines and large-scale pelletizer machines, or in another word, you call them flat die pellet machine and ring die pellet machine. The small-scale type is designed to produce pellets for home use while the other design is for industrial use. Small scale wood pelletizers are usually variations of screw presses or hydraulic presses. Die in the pelletizers can be also called mold, it can hold the uncompressed powder material in a shaped pocket. You should know that this pocket shape defined the final pellet shape. A platen is attached to the end of the screw or the ram which compresses the powder material.

The flat die design use a flat die with slots. Raw materials were first put through top of the die and as the die rotates a roller presses the materials through die holes. A cutter on the other side of the die will cut the exposed pellet out from the mill die. However, the other type - the ring die pelletizer machine use radial slot throughout the die, rollers are designed inside of the die, Materials just need to be put inside of the die and spreaders evenly distribute the material. Two rollers then compress the powder material through the die holes. Two cutters will then be used in order to cut the pellets free from the outside of the die.
